Mentz Bible Study

I will never get tired of the view we have on the way to Mentz.  I wish the picture could really show you how beautiful South Africa is.  (this pics are from my phone and not the best)

As we were heading to Mentz tonight for Bible study, my phone rang and it was Meriam.  She wanted to make sure we were coming by her house to pick up her two daughters, Dineo and Sarah.  Sarah works at a grocery store and only gets one day off a month and this is the first time it has been on a Friday we were having Bible study.  Meriam told me that she was not feeling well and was going to have miss tonight.  Please pray for Meriam, the last time she went to see a doctor they told her she has arthritis.  She has been hurting a lot and has not been able to work for over a month.  It is causing a lot of stress for her.

Tonight the focus was on "Why you should know your bible."  Last week Mark asked them to read Matthew 4: 1-11.  They were supposed to look for how many times Jesus was tempted and what was Jesus' reaction.  It was great to see Jankie's wife, Gladys, with her notebook.  She had obviously done her homework and had a bunch of notes ready to share tonight.  Mark had them read the verses and then after each temptation he also showed them in Deuteronomy where the scriptures Jesus was using was in the bible.  It was neat to watch the reactions as they realized that Jesus was using the Bible.   Please continue to pray for this Friday Bible study and specifically pray that they will have a desire to read and study their Bibles throughout the week to learn more about who God is and what Jesus has done for them.

Mark asked them who God is and they responded ...
-love
-creator
-redeemer
-Savior

Then he asked them why the Bible is important and Johannes, Jereminah's husband, responded, "The Bible is important to teach us about Jesus and God and also for us to worship Him"

Please join us in praying for
-Meriam to feel better so she can work again and care for her family
-Johannes' business is not going well
-Jankie has a lawn mowing business and also has a business buying scrap metal and he asked for prayer for his customers to increase
-they asked that we pray for the students to have wisdom and understanding at school
