Finally back to the Bible Study in Mentz

After one week of rain, two weeks in a row with deaths in Jankie and Meriam's family, our trip to Zimbabwe and Good Friday we were finally able to head back to Mentz for the Friday Bible Study!

When we arrived in Mentz, we went to Meriam's house to give her a lift (ride).   The sky was beautiful tonight.

Surprise was ready for Bible study
Surprise really likes Mark.  She calls him Bina Bina (Bina means dance) because Mark likes to dance.

After Mark got everything set up at Jereminah's house, Surprise wanted to show Mark a sore on her finger.  She decided she would sit with him for a few minutes.

Mark picked up where we left off last time ... continuing a basic overview of the Bible.  He is using the first lesson in The Fundamentals of Faith Bible study from Grace Community Church.  The first lesson is a great overview of the Bible.  We noticed the first time we meet that they really didn't know how to use their bibles and we felt that before Mark could really begin the New Tribes: Building Firm Foundations Chronological Bible Study we first needed to cover a few basics.  Today he focused on Christ in the Bible.

Today he reminded them that the Old and New Testaments are to be seen together and they portray Jesus Christ as the central figure.   Mark had them  look up Luke 24:27 ... "And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself."  Christ is seen in All Scripture.    next was  John 5:39 ... "You search the Scriptures because you think that in them yo will have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me,"  Jesus said that Scriptures "bear witness of Me"

He also asked them why the Bible is important to them.  Some of the responses were
- to learn about Jesus
-to know how to pray
-to know how to live

He asked them if any of them knew about when Jesus was tempted by Satan.  Most of them said no.  Time was running short because it was dark earlier and we didn't bring any lights with us this time (but we will next week!).  Mark told them they had homework.  They needed to read Matthew 4 and answer 2 questions
- How many time did Satan temp Jesus?
-How did Jesus respond to the temptations?

the sunset was beautiful tonight
This past Sunday, Theresia, Jereminah's daughter had a baby boy.  After the Bible study was over she asked me if I wanted to see the baby.  Of course!!!

he is only 5 days old!
These are their prayer requests and we would love for you to join us in praying for them.
- Meriam's legs, feet and joints are still bothering here and it is causing her to miss work
-Surprise has a cut on her finger and it is slightly swollen
-Jankie is feeling like he is getting a cold
-Julia's daughter Maria is about to have a baby
Praise for the new baby in Jereminah's family!
