Brit came for a visit!

We returned from Mozambique on December 11th and 3 days later we headed to Joburg to pick up Brit from the airport.   She was home for Christmas!  We were all very excited that she was here.   I don't think any of us were really ready to have our first Christmas apart.  Honestly, before she even moved back to the States she was talking about wanting to spend Christmas here.  I have to admit I was surprised.  After all, she would have been able to enjoy Christmas in the winter with snow and our extended family but she chose to come back home.   We were grateful that we were able to find here a ticket on the Delta flight from Atlanta for only $900.  Considering it was Christmas and the tickets for that flight can be well over $1000 we booked it as soon as we saw it.

We showed up at the airport sporting our Mozambique tans and Brit of course showed up with her winter white skin!  It was great to ALL be together again!

Our time with her was spent mostly in Polokwane with a day trip up the mountain for some fishing.  It was just good to have her here with us.  None of really cared what we did as long as we were together.

Movie Time

Our friend, Debs, found out that there was a home in Polokwane that decorated their backyard for Christmas and they opened it up to the public to come and enjoy the lights and have a picnic.  So we made plans with some friends and grabbed KFC and headed to the Christmas lights.  It has been a long time since we enjoyed any lights during the Christmas season.  We had just enough time to enjoy the picnic, visit a little and walk around the lights before a storm rolled in and the power went off and hurried to the cars before it started pouring!  It was a GREAT night and I am glad Brit was here with us!

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will be in the next post.

One night we headed over to the "Local Mexican Food Restaurant" at the Hixon's.  Jay, Allie and Bentley prepared the restaurant, made menus, cooked the food and served us.  It was a great evening and of course it ended with a show.

New Years Eve we headed up the mountain for a day of fishing.

Brit caught a fish.  Of course she didn't really want to touch it.
After returning home from fishing we finished off New Year's Eve with a movie and then went out into the front yard and enjoyed the fireworks as we said hello to 2016.

New Years Day

of course we had to have a paint ball day

saying bye - we praise the Lord for their friendship!
This good-bye was much harder then the one in June and even October.  In June as we said good-bye we knew Christmas was a possibility, in October we had a date and knew we would see her in December!  We have no idea when we will hug her again.  That was a HARD good-bye!   We are so thankful for technology that allows us to "see" and talk almost everyday but that doesn't replace a hug!  We trust the Lord for His perfect timing!

found this in her room when we got home
