Joseph was preaching at the Baptist Church in Mentz this morning and Mark and I went with him. We were hoping that Jankie and Gladys were going but as we were on the way Jankie sent a message letting us know that he was visiting family in the next village.
Joseph preached this morning from 1 Peter 2: 1-3
"So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation - if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good."
He explained that as believers we must put away the sinful desires and that in order to grow you must be in the Word of God. You must desire your bible and not be satisfied with any thing else. It is only through the word of God that you will be able to grow as a believer.
He challenge them with 2 things ...
1.) take off all sin - deal with your sin
2.) as you get rid of your sin, long for the pure milk of the Word
We enjoyed our morning in Mentz. We ask that you would join us in praying for this church and for wisdom to know how best Christ Seminary and Samaria Mission could come alongside and help this congregation.
