We are in the middle of a very BUSY week around here getting everything ready for the Pastor/Leader Conference next week in Zimbabwe. (I will update about that soon). Anyway, I started my day going to the ladies Bible study this morning at church. About 30 minutes after the study started, Mark knocked on the door and he had Jankie's wife, Gladys, with him. He said she came to work with him today and they were going to stay the night and go to the Bible study tonight. She wanted to join me this morning.
After the study, she went with me to get Jill and we went to Debbie's to plan the menu for the trip to Zimbabwe and plan what to teach during the children's Sunday School in Zimbabwe. After we finished there, we headed out to the mission farm to find the needed craft items to take. Then we headed back to the house.
Yesterday was her birthday so I wanted to make her a cake and I decided to also make some pumpkin bread. She came in the kitchen and told me she wanted to help me. I asked her with what and she said with everything! So we began to make a cake. She has never baked anything before and she enjoyed the whole process. She wasn't too sure about trying the batter, which of course is my favorite. When I offered it to her she looked at me funny and said no. Then I took some and offered Julia some. After watching us she decided she would try it and of course she liked it. It was great to spend time with Gladys and get to know her today.
I also have to take a minute and show you what we are growing in our garden. First time to use the lettuce and it tasted great! Love that we can save money on some of the veggies and the convenience of having them in the backyard! Jankie has worked hard the last few months tending to the garden and we PRAISE THE LORD for food HE is providing for us as well as Jankie, Gladys and Meriam. Gladys is looking forward to picking some spinach and cabbage tomorrow for them to eat over the weekend.
We also want you to pray for Meriam. She has not been able to work this whole week because her feet and legs are swelling and she says it is painful to walk. I have not been able to see her and I am hoping to go visit her tomorrow to check on her. We were not able to have Bible Study in Mentz last week because they had a death in the family. Then we found out today they had another death in the family so we can't have the Bible study again this week since they will be busy with the funeral preparations on Friday. Please pray for Jankie and Meriam (they are cousins) and their family as they are dealing with two deaths in the family in the last two weeks.
