Salani Outreach

This was our last outreach from the States this season.  It was a smaller team with 4 people from May, Texas and 4 people from Centerview, North Carolina.  These two teams blended so well and we had a great time serving the Lord with them in Salani.

The team held men, women and children's ministry as well as hut to hut visitations.  We also held evening services with worship, testimonies and preaching.  We also showed the Jesus film one evening.  The team also helped with drilling a well by the river and starting another well by the clinic.

When the well by the river was finished we announced that we would meet everyone there at 9 am the next morning to show them how to properly use the well and share with them from God's Word about the importance of drinking from the living water.  William shared with the people that this well in Salani is from the Lord and that it will meet there physical needs but the only way they will never thirst again is to trust in the ONE TRUE GOD.  He shared from John 4: 13 -14, where Jesus says to the woman "Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.  The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."  It was a great day of excitement and celebration at the well in Salani.  (Check out Doug and Debbie's blog post about the well.)

Salani does not have a local church pastor and although there have been teams there in the past there does not seem to be any spiritual growth among the people.  The first part of the outreach seemed very discouraging as there were not many that showed to have any knowledge of the gospel or desire to learn.  As the week went on we saw things change.  At the end of one of the evening services William challenged the people who wanted to take a stand for Christ to stay after the service.  Over 30 people (of all ages) stayed behind.  William and Joseph split the group so that the children could be talked to separately.  It was a great night and we pray that there were some men, women and children who will continue to stand for Christ.  We are excited that the team brought tape players that have the whole Bible on tape.  They just have to turn the handle to hear the Word.  We left a tape player with 3 different people, one being the chief.  They were challenged to organize times for people to come and listen to the Bible.  We ask that you continue to pray for Salani as there is not a leader there to continue to teach and encourage the people with THE TRUTH.

We had a great outreach season this year and we praise the Lord for all the work He accomplished in Mozambique.  Thank you for your prayers, support and encouragement. If you haven't checked out the other 5 posts be sure to scroll down so you can see photos from the other outreaches.
