Christmas 2012

Living in South Africa celebrating Christmas is different for us BUT one thing remains the same and that is that

WE CELEBRATE THE BIRTH OR OUR SAVIOR!  He is the Reason for the Season!

One reason is it is different for us is that it is summer and not winter.  So picture needing to put your tree up in July!  That is what it feels like here. We do our best to keep some of our family traditions the same from when we lived in the States but we have also added some new traditions as well ... like swimming on Christmas Day.  Here is a quick peak of our month celebrating the birth of Jesus, loving one another and spending time with family and friends.

Everyone in my family was a huge help to me on Christmas Eve.  I found out earlier that day I had a slight pneumonia and I did not feel so great.  Thanks to all of them we enjoyed a nice Christmas Eve dinner at home (Mexican Food of course!) and Mark read to us about the birth of Jesus!

Doug shared a special treat from the States with Mark.

Luke helped me with Christmas Breakfast ... at one point he said "I am triple tasking here, it's harder than you think!"   ... hmmm I don't know about that at all!

Did I mention the icing melted before we ate it!

We headed to the mission farm for Christmas lunch to spend time with the  Nathan, one of the Seminary students, the Vaughan Family and the Frew Family.  It was a great afternoon!

Ian and Marie stopped by for dessert
After we left the farm, we headed to the Hixon's for Christmas dinner!  Of course, we had to swim again ... it is Christmas Day!

And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.  Luke 2:10-11

We hope that you had a wonderful Christmas celebrating the birth of our Savior with family and friends.
